Recombinant MCP-4 is a bioactive protein intended for use in cell culture applications. MCP-4 displays chemotactic activity for monocytes, lymphocytes, basophils and eosinophils, but not neutrophils. This chemokine plays a role in accumulation of leukocytes during inflammation. It may also be involved in the recruitment of monocytes into the arterial wall during artherosclerosis. It is a member of the C-C subfamily of chemokines which are characterized by having two adjacent cysteine residues.
