General description
Aprataxin and PNKP-like factor (APLF) is also called as PALF and Xip1. It is located in the nucleus. APLF has a forkhead-associated (FHA) domain and two unique poly (ADP-ribose)-binding zinc finger (PBZ) domains in its C-terminal region. This gene is mapped to human chromosome 2p13.3.

Biochem/physiol Actions
Aprataxin and PNKP-like factor (APLF) acts as a DNA repair factor. The forkhead-associated (FHA) domain of APLF helps to bind to the phosphorylated FHA domain binding motifs (FBMs) in XRCC1 and XRCC4. Other domains of APLF recruites APLF to sites of DNA damage.
