YL-939 is a cell penetrant, potent and selective ferroptosis inhibitor. YL-939 binds directly to prohibitin 2 (PHB2) hence promoting the expression of the iron storage protein ferritin thus reducing the iron content, thereby decreasing the susceptibility to ferroptosis. YL-939 effectively protects cells from ferroptosis.
