General description
生物素是一种重要的双杂环水溶性维生素，是大多数植物和原核生物合成的辅助因子。蛋白质结合生物素通常存在于膳食来源中，如肉类、谷物、蛋黄、肝脏和一些蔬菜。

生物素作为乙酰辅酶A、丙酮酸、丙酰辅酶A和3-甲基巴豆酰基-辅酶A羧化酶的辅酶可用于调节糖异生、脂质稳态、多效基因表达以及补充三羧循环的中间体。与组蛋白结合的生物素在染色质重塑、DNA修复和转座子抑制以维持基因组的稳定性中发挥重要作用。生物素水平不足可导致皮炎、结膜炎、脱发和中枢神经系统异常。
Physical form
溶于0.01 M磷酸盐缓冲液（pH 7.4）中，含有15 mM叠氮化钠。
