General description

The human major histocompatibility complex class I polypeptide-related sequence B (MICB) is a member of the stress-induced family of MHC I-like proteins. It is mapped to human chromosome 6. This gene has 12,930 bp and has six exons. MICB protein is made up of 383 amino acids.

Biochem/physiol Actions

The human major histocompatibility complex class I polypeptide-related sequence B (MICB) participates in innate and adaptive immunity. It activates natural killer and T cells with the help of the natural killer group 2 member D (NKG2D) receptor.
