General description
微管相关蛋白2（MAP-2）是一种丰富的神经元细胞骨架蛋白，可与微管蛋白结合，稳定微管（Herzog and Weber, 1978），并且是神经元的**标记物。MAP-2对于神经元形态的发育和维持至关重要（Matus，1991）。已经在神经元中鉴定出MAP-2的三种主要亚型，即高分子量MAP2a和MAP2b，以及低分子量MAP2c（由MAP2基因的交替剪接产生）。（Chung et al.，1996）。低分子量亚型MAP2c在发育中的大脑中表达，并在大脑成熟过程中被下调，而高分子量MAP2b在发育中和成年大脑中均表达。MAP2a仅在大脑成熟后出现（Tucker，1990）。全部这些形式通过羧基末端附近的域与微管结合，该域包含31个氨基酸基序的三个或四个相似重复序列（Lewis et al.，1988）。MAP-2与MAP-4和tau蛋白一起属于与微管相关的热稳定蛋白家族。
观测值〜230 kDa。
